Being related encompasses all
the senses and all the emotions. It is a thing of beauty and it
requires everything of you. It requires that you grow and reach
your full potential, it requires that you heal the past, it
requires connection with your own spirit and it requires a
blending with the other, your beloved.
I consider relationship
counseling to be a sacred endeavor. In the warmth of a committed
relationship one can heal, grow and live life more fully.
Common topics that couples
address in relationship counseling are:
commitment, listening,
equality issues, money, sex, parenting, affairs and attractions,
intimacy, addictions, time spent together vs. time spent in single
pursuit, and how to survive and heal triggers from past wounding.
While the answers for each
question are unique to each couple, perhaps the most important
aspect of couples counseling is teaching the couple to find their
own healing rhythm. This rhythm emerges as skills acquired in
therapy develop and as the couple resolves difficult issues.
As we work together you can
expect to enhance your ability to be profoundly, and deeply
related. You can expect to develop the kind of relationship that
each of you dreams of having, expressing loving kindness for each
other while maintaining a true sense of individuality.
